Frienship and freedom!
These are the two pillars that sustain Motociclette Americane Harley & Indian Club. Or it could be better said "freedom to be friends", sharing a unique great passion: the passion for the yankee two wheels, whether they bear on the tank the brand Harley-Davidson, Henderson, Cleveland or a somewhat rotten redskin indian.
A unique blend that keeps together a large group, withouth regional or state borders but organized in districts, be they large or long according to the members' needs, never tight or far away as geographical boundaries would impose. Now, this, in our opinion, is an example of freedom. The good thing of being inseparable friends for a thousand miles or when one of the members is in need of help, be it the cleaning of a spark plug or something more serious. But in our opinion freedom is also staying for some time without seeing each other and not having someone marking us as unsociable people. Because we like to run, to rev up, to dismantle, we like to eat, to drink, to ride long distances if it's good for everybody and if we've however left behind our shoulders a peaceful family and a steady job.
You won't meet hot headed, crazy persons, knight-errants without a destination, you will instead meet a solid group ever ready to enjoy life, better if from the saddle of an old friend, sometimes rejuvenated and "tested" together.
MAC is also passion and deep knowledge of historical twin cylinders, thanks to the painstaking work of our president and of a group of courageous who know how to overtake even the remotest boundaries in search of the beautiful lady that needs to be brought back to its original beauty.
That's how our flock has seen the arrival of the smashing boxer engine Indian "model O" dating back to 1918, three Scout with so many stories to tell, together with so many other technical wonders with the feather on the body or the Bar&Shield proudly shown. Keeping an eye, however, on modern Harley and Indian and on the pleasure of customizing. A 360 degrees insight, wide enough to welcome everybody's passion and tastes.
And now we've achieved the best aknowledgement, the most wanted one: since September 2010 MAC is a member of AMCA, Antique Motorcycle Club of America which means getting into history. It means the highest reward for our efforts. It means feeling part of a wider universe, it mreans European and international aknowledgement for all the work of these last few years.
It was way back in 1954 when a small group of people fond of vintage bikes founded this extrahordinary club which, in a few years reached the record figure of 11.000 members.
Out in the street it was "Rock around the clock" and the boys got themselves a high time with their fashinating chicks on the rhythm of a bass rockabilly guitar.
Marlon Brando was racing with a trophy tied to the front lamp while in the most oily garages the "music of the devil" melted with the coughy sleepy sound of vintage Knucklehead and Chief.
Many of us weren't yet born but today, half a century on, we can feel part of that world made of passion and friendship, dirty hands and clean hearts, heading for a journey that - we're dead certain of that - will still take us far.
Yet we keep an eye anyway on present times both of Harley and Indian and on the pleasure of customizing bikes.
Summing up to a 360 degrees space, wide enough to welcome the passion and tastes of everyone.
But not only that ...........
MAC is also so many chances to be happy together or even to help those in need. Then welcome to the Sunday Grill, the monthly meeting based on "beer and sausages" and so much pleasure of being together; Happy birthday parties to celebrate members' birthdays; the traditional Toy Run on the 8th of December to bring some help to the children of Galeata orphanage.
And partecipation to the Super Rally in May, rides to discover the regions as proposed by the members, going to events organized by other clubs nationwide such as the "Nine Hills" and the visit to the major exhibition in Italy: the Motorbike Expo Show in Verona in January.
And the Club has not yet satisfied its ambitions.
Further to the desire of growing in numbers of friends and members on the national ground, we strongly wish to get one day to be part of the European Federation of Harley Clubs (FH-DCE) together with the ambitious goal of becoming the Historical Register of Italy for Vintage Harley and Indian bikes.
At present MAC is the only Italian club to be part of the European Federation of Indian Clubs and will be the organizer of the Indian International Rally in 2014.
Summarizing we can say that in MAC there's no time to get bored starting from this site, always lively, always happy.
Fill up your tank, start your engine, there's a long road in front of us as well as the certainty that riding together will be a unique pleasure.
