MAC lands in the USA
It's a long way and we're going step by step, on a regular average, always a sun ray on our side
We've got there on an old piece of iron or on a brightly shining springer, sitting up like a cock on an old Scout or clenched to the handles of a supercharged Sporster. It doesn't matter how, it doesn't matter if we haven't set a new record on the motorway, what really matters is that we rode the way together.
And together, along the road, we've grown in number, in large number. There are already three districts from the Rubicone River to Mount Titano and then deep down south to the blue sea of Barletta.
Then, just like reviving Forrest Gump, we've got there, where the horizon confuses sea and land and we told ourselves: "Why not go further?"
So this club of madmen with rust of the twin cylinder iron and some insanity in the brain, have alnded in America, getting into the Club that has made the history of these splendid yankee horses that make us go crazy.
MAC has got intoAMCA – Antique Motorcycle Club of America, MAC has got into history !
It was way back in '54 when a small group of lovers of these old bikes founded this fabulous club which in a few years reached the record number of 11,000 members in the States. Outside "Rock around the clock" was raging and the most handsome with their chicks unchained their energies on the rhythm of a rockabilly bass guitar. Marlon Brando raced with a trophy tied to the front lamp while in most oily garages the devil's music was that sleepy coughing of Knuckleheads and vintage Chief.
Many of us wern't born yetbut today, more than half a century later, we can feel part of this magic world made of passion and frienship, of greasy hands and clear hearts for a journey which will still take us far. We're dead certain of that!
But let's put aside rethorics and the occasional tear: getting into AMCA today means the highest compensation For the Motociclette Americane Harley & Indian Club.
It means feeling part of a wider universe, it means european and international appreciation, it is worth the effort of these years of careful and passionate work
Built on the relationships of our leaders, on partecipation to meetings and parties of the other clubs which have learned to know us and quickly appreciate us for what we are, for what we can pass on: "Friendship and Freedom".
And pretend nothing if someone still frowns, pretend nothing if a couple of ex fellows aven't yet got into the long wave of the feast, MAC keeps on running on roads wide enough for everybody.
MAC is the only Club in Italy that can boast this aknoledgement and in Europe there are only two other Clubs that are members of AMCA.
In 2014 we'll organize the International Indian Rally under the shade of the impressive rock and fortress of San Leo . Looked upon by the phantom of Count Cagliostro (a widely known sorcerer who was imprisoned there).
And it will be wonderful to host so many bikes with the Indian on evidence in such an environment; bikes painted in that red that makes you dizzy or that olive green so dear that isn't produced anymore but that reminds us of years of glory.
And there will be many friends from AMCA, from the 54 American Member Chapters and from all over the world because events of such an importance will be in the offcial calendar of the American Club and on the splendid magazine that we've begun to receive regularly.
And if we lack some technical support or some detail to put our "baby" back on the road, now we're granted access to the immense archive of the Antique Motorcycle Club which has given new strength to the project of becoming Italy's Historical Register of Indian and Harley. But this another story and another step.
Stay by our side with a strong grip on the handle: you won't regret it !
